Potentially toxic elements pollution in road deposited sediments around the active smelting industry of Korea

Abstract Potentially toxic elements (PTEs) were investigated in the different sizes of road deposited sediments (RDS) around active smelting industry to understand their sources and assess pollution ecological risk levels. The highest PTEs concentrations was shown near raw materials import port facilities. fine particles RDS showed extremely high concentrations. Zn has mean concentration < 63 μm particle size RDS, followed by Pb > Cu As Cr Ni Cd Hg. this study values compared soils smelter urban industrial areas world. This indicates that these mainly attributed transportation for industry. According nemerow index calculation, at all sampling sites with less than 250 mm seriously polluted PTEs. also found be very fractions highly such as Cd, Hg pose risk. Given total amounts surface, it is necessary apply removal management plan reduce pollution.
